We have recently migrated to a citrix environment and the Analyst workspace is 512000. The excel refreshes were very slow. On investigation I noticed that when accessing analyst through the Excel Analyst server link the workspace was 64000. - How come?, we have checked the configuration on both the citrix server and the remote desktop server and both are 512000, so where is it getting the 64000 from?

The add-in launches analyst in a slightly different way to the other tools. In non Citrix mode it will look here (or the equivelent key for your version):-

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Cognos\Planning84\Analyst\Server

in the WINEXEC key. Check the command line (you can even run it manually). Normally it refers to another key that is here:-

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Cognos\Planning84\Analyst\Dyalog

in the MAXWS key.

In some environments these keys get cloned to the HKCU equivelents and these will be used in preference (im unsure whether the add-in observes this).

Also - at runtime the MAXWS setting should be updated based on the setting in cognos config. I imagine what may be happening is that the citrix clones of these keys are not being updated and you are always left with the default setting of 64000. You may want to get a citirx admin to force the issue and manually set the MAXWS key for all users. Im very interested to hear what you find based on these observations.
