how to migrate .ppx reports to cognos connection.

I have migrated cubes from series 7 to cognos8.  but in PPES I have the imported reports folder which has all ppx reports. Imported reports folder did not migrated from series 7 to cognos8 when I migrated all of the cubes .

any idea how to do it??

where can I see the Tools->Server Administration in cognos connection(8.4 version)

Hi,

Have you installed the PowerPlay migration utility?  This will allow you to bring your cubes and PPX reports from the Cognos 7 world into Cognos 8 (also assuming you have Cognos 8 PowerPlay Server installed).

Log into Cognos 8 as an administrative user, then go to the Launch menu and select Administration Console.  Go to the Configuration tab, then select Content Administration on the left hand side.  You should then have a button available in the top right corner (5th button along) to launch the Migration Assistant.

As per your second post, Tools -> Server Administration from 8.1/8.2 has now been integrated into the Administration console in 8.3/8.4 (see above).

Hi MF,

we have installed the power play migration utility and using Migration Assistant I have migrated the cubes from series 7 to congos 8.4.

In power play enterprise server I have more than 5 folders including Imported reports folder. when I migrated from 7 to c8 all of my folders are migrated excluding Imported Reports folder.

why the Imported reports folder did not migrated and how can I get it to c8.

Any idea?

Thank you very much for your reply.

Hi,

Are you importing the original content from Upfront or direct from the PPES Table Of Contents page?  If it's Upfront, when you run the migration utility, you have to enter the server and port to connect to Upfront, then some login credentials which are used to sign in to Upfront during the migration process.  Does the user you specify here definitely have access to see the Imported Reports folder in Upfront?

When you click Next after entering these details, the migration utility should show you a list of all content it can see - do you see the Imported Reports folder and are you selecting it to be brought across at this point?

I have migrated PPES to cognos connection in that time it asked me to check the folders there I did not see my Imported folders to check the box rest of all folders are there and migrated to cognos connection.

then I migrated upfront also even though Imported reports folder did not migrated.

in Migration and upgraged document some where I read to publish the PPX reports first I need to install the migration tool on the cognos 8. I am not sure where should I install cognos8 migration tool and which tool I need to install?

Thanks for your time.

Is it a permissions issue?  The user ID you specify during the migration process should have permissions to be able to see the imported reports source folder.

I have Admin permissions. I can able to see all the folders like my administrator. we tried with our administrator ID also still we couldn't able to see the Imported reports folder

What if you copy the contents of Imported Reports to a new folder?  Can you see and import that?
