Hello,

Does Cognos Planning 8.4 run on x64-bit machines?  I am planning to setup on Windows 2003 server x64

Also,

Is this already supported on Windows 7 x86 and x64 architecture?

Thanks.

Not natively (it's all 32-bit).  Also one or more installation/configuration options are known to be issues and will not work.  Aside from a cheaper Windows license, there is no significant benefit to run on x64.

Windows 7: no

We use Cognos 8.4 Planning Analyst and Contrubutor under Win 7
It works fine.

I assume you mean Windows 7 x86, 32bit for use of Contributor, Analyst, Manager.

Any version of an operating system may work with any version of cognos, it's whether it's supported in the eyes of IBM Cognos support.  8.4 is not supported on a Windows7 machine, whether it's 64 or 32bit.  That means you will not receive support from IBM if you run into problems.  Please see:

As SomeClown mentioned, it will run on x64 machines and is fully supported.  There is, however, some major performance issues in 8.4 using 64 bit machines related to reconciles.  I can't recall when these issues were fixed, I want to say 8.4.1 or 10.1.  I'll post back once I've tracked down the information.

Update:
The performance issue was resolved in 8.4.1 base:
