Oficially, what you are trying to do is unsupported. Official line is you can INSTALL two separate instances (Planning, BI) on one server, but only ONE can be running at the time.

This is what we did in our DEV environment. It seems functional, use on your own risk. It has some caveeats, for example, if you do it as described, your users will not be able to access Planning documentation via Gateway.

- install both services to different directories, e.g.
COGNOS\planning
COGNOS\bi

(make sure you place shortcuts to different folders in Windows START menu)

- configure virtual directories like this
/cognos8/                => cognos\bi\webcontent
/cognos8/cgi-bin/      => cognos\bi\cgi-bin
/cognos8/contributor/ => cognos\planning\contributor

(the last entry differs from official documentation)

configure both services
- configure both services so that they run on different ports
- run content manager on the BI instance only
- make sure both services have different names

The rest as usual.

Use on your own risk :)

Firstly, what version of EP and BI is this? If you are using 8.2 and up, these are integrated and you can use the exact same installation directory on a single server setup.

These two products will use the same gateway and will share the Cognos 8 service.
EP 8.2+ is based off of the Cognos 8 BI Architecture

However TM1 is a completely seperate product currently and will have it's own definitive services installed.
