Hi,
I'm trying to insert a text item that spans two columns.Ã,  For example, I want the words "Actual vs Budget" across two columns.Ã,  The first column will contain a $ variance and the second column will contain a % variance.Ã,  Ã,  See below for an example.Ã,  Is this possible in Report Studio?Ã,  Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  Ã, | Actual vs Budget|
Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  Ã, |Ã,  Ã,  Ã, $Ã,  Ã,  Ã, |Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  %Ã,  |

This probably isnt the type of answer you are looking for....

I'm assuming you are using a list report.  Since you can't merge two header cells, and you still need the two separate report columns for $ and %, why dont you format the two separate header cells so that there is no border between them.  Change the text of one cell to 'Actual vs ' and horizontally align right, and change the text of the other cell to 'Budget' and horizontally align left.  You might need to play around a bit with the sizing of the report columns etc but it should work.

If JGirls idea doesn't fit, you might try a calculated field where you could concatenate the Actual and Budget fields with some space between and make the header read what you'd like it to.  Wouldn't work well if you needed summary calculations in the list footer.  May also be tricky to get the pseudo-columns to line up.

Brilliant, JGirl!!!  Your solution worked like a charm.  Thanks to both of you for your responses.
