Hello,
I a have a Query that generates a CSV file which is too large to be sent by email, is there a way to configure Query Studi so it saves the Query to a Network Drive so all users can access it without going to the Portal to download it? I am using Cognos 8.3.

Thanks,

DustPanMan

In Cognos 8v3 and beyond, an administrator can set up a network directory in Cognos Configuration.  Once this is set up and services are restarted, when you try to schedule a report to run, you will have a new option "Save to Directory".  You can set parameters to add a date/time stamp as well.  All of the precise details on setting this up can be found in your admin guide.

Best of luck.

Thanks for your reply,

I've tried to set this up following the instructions in the administration guides but I haven't been successful.

I added the folder where I want the reports to be saved to the global configuration in Cognos configuration and I tested it successfully.

I activated the option in cognos configuration to allow reports to be saved in a file system.

I created a in cognos administration --> cognos configuration a location where I want the reports to be saved (a sub-folder of the folder setup as the root folder in cognos configuration)

I now have the option to save the report in a file system but when I run the report I get a message

CNC-DS-0023 Impossible to create the directory to save the report version

Have forgotten something?

Thanks

Ozzloz,

You're almost there.  All you have to do is create the sub folder under the base folder.  Cognos will not create new folders for you during this.  You should alos make sure that the security on the File Directory server is set appropriately... let me know when you get it.

Dustin
