How can I make my reports update upon publish/import a new version of a package?

You know how when one publishes or imports a package and when users go to open a report or query, they get stopped going into the query and a screen with the prompt to update the object?

I have been trying to remove this prompt and not meeting with the success I had hoped.  I have attempted doing something with the SDK to update all the reports and queries programmatically.  I got a code sample from Cognos.  It’s attached here.

I have met with some success with this code, but not completely.  I have the code attached.  I find that the objects are updated but if there is a structural change to the object (a column is gone from the model or renamed) then the object still needs an update to the definition.

Cognos told me to create a maintenance job in the content manager for ‘New Report Upgrade’ but this had no discernible effect. The prompt is still there.

So what I’d like you know is if you guys have encountered this issue and if so, how you have solved it?
