Envirenment : Cognos 8 BI with content store on oracle 9i. Operating system is Window XP Professional Version 2002 SP2.

Everthing was working fine. I created some reports in Report Studio working well. I used Cognos connection also it was also working .

But now Some problem has come up when i try to click "http://localhost/cognos8" in Internet Explorer it is showing following error :

" The Cognos Gateway is unable to connect to the Cognos BI server. The server may be unavailable, or the gateway may not be correctly configured.

  Please try again or contact your administrator. "

When  I dig into " COGNOS CONFIGURATION " and right click CONTENT STORE & click TEST following is the error

[Cryptography]
1. [ ERROR ] CAM-CRP-1093 Unable to read the contents of the keystore 'D:/Program Files/cognos/c8_SERVER/configuration/signkeypair\jCAKeystore'. Reason: java.io.EOFException: unexpected end of stream

If you need further information kindly let me know.

Guide me how to resolve this.

Not sure if it will solve your main error which sounds network related but whenever I get cryptographic error messages I find regenerating the cryptographic keys will fix it.

Steps to Regenerate Cryptographic Keys

   1.On the Content Manager computer, back up the existing cryptographic keys by saving the following directories to an alternate location that is secure:
          *      c8_location/configuration/csk
          *      c8_location/configuration/encryptkeypair
          *      c8_location/configuration/signkeypair
   2. Delete the csk, encryptkeypair, and signkeypair directories.
   3.In Cognos Configuration, save the configuration and restart the services.
   4.Repeat steps 1 to 3 on all computers that have Cognos 8 components installed.

Thnaks for the reply

I tried this but still the same error is coming...

I am still looking for solution ...

Senior guys please guide me

cogman

 Delete the csk, encryptkeypair, and signkeypair folders within the ..\crn\configuration directory.  Open Cognos Configuration, confirm the Gateway URI is pointing to the correct URL and click the Save icon.

thanks a lot m23 & cogman.
both of you have pointed in the right direction.

i did following steps :

1. take backup of csk, signkeypair, encryptkeypair, cogstartup.xml and CASerial directories/files in safe place ( in case if this does not work then u can revert back to original position.
2. Open Cognos Configuration, click file -> export as say test.xml then close Cognos Configuration
3. Then navigate to the c8/configuration directory, delete the csk, signkeypair, encryptkeypair,cogstartup.xml and CASerial directories/files.
4. Copy test.xml in c8/configuration directory & Rename it to cogstartup.xml
5. Open Cognos Configuration test Content store --> it will work & no encryption error will be there
6. Click Save button.

Now start cognos it will work
this Issue is resolved now
Senior guys thanks a ton once again .
