Can anyone help me? I need to give access permission to a group of users to create, modify and consult only data modules, reports, dashboards and stories. How can I do this? The only way I managed to allow access was to also allow the administration console, access that this group should not have. Version is 11.1.7

Hi,

Take a look in the Cognos namespace at the groups and roles in there. You should find there are roles called "Analytics Administrator", "Analytics Explorer" and "Analytics User" (among many others). These roles were added by IBM to align with the user license capabilities for each of these licenses. Adding your users to the "Analytics User" role should be an easy way to grant your users the required privileges.

Cheers!

The Analytics User provides access to reports and dashboards, which is fine, but it doesn't grant access to the data module. The Analytics Administrator does grant access to creating and editing data modules, but it also allows access to the administrative console, which we cannot permit. Is there any way to grant access to the module without granting access to the administrative console?

Interesting! Data Modules are included as part of the Analytics user license capabilities, so I'm very surprised IBM isn't rolling out the capabilities with the Analytics User default role. The documentation actually states that Data Modules are included as a capability for the Analytics User role:

https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/cognos-analytics/11.2.0?topic=roles-license

Are you sure the Analytics User role doesn't grant Data Module capabilities in your instance? If not, has someone previously edited the role to remove them?

In any case, you can either edit the capabilities of the role to include data module access, or else create a new role that includes the capabilities your users require.
