AI Assistant - How pervasive are new "synonyms"?

I know that AI Assistant allows the user to create new "synonyms" to explain to Cognos, for example, that "puppy means dog".  This new synonym should allow the user to structure Assistant queries/questions using either the data item name of "dog" or its synonym of "puppy" interchangeably.

Does anyone know how widespread new synonyms are?  I mean, is the synonym of "puppy" only useful to the Cognos user who created it or is it in a general lexicon allowing all other users (on the same instance of Cognos) to use it too?

I've not been able to find any related statements or documents to help answer this question.  I'm working with 11.2.3, and so far, I've not been able to successfully create any new synonyms.  Hence, I'm at present unable to have any other user on the same instance of Cognos help me test the answer to my question.

One of my programmers checked in with IBM Cognos and they were told that presently (at least in 11.2.x) there is no way to either change/correct a synonym nor to delete/inactive one either.

Essentially, at this time once a synonym is defined, it's (semi-)permanently defined.

Apparently there is a request in Cognos' enhancement queue to introduce a technique for dealing with problem synonyms.
