Dear all:

I am newbie to Cognos and request your help.this is regarding formatting .When I design a report I am pretty much confused with table width and length.
1.   Do I need to check Fixed width check box, if yes do I need to specify size for each cell
2.   How to place different tables in various cell to align to the requirement
3.   Is there a way I could make some color as favorite(there is an option when I set they are not visible for next login)
4.   When we set width/length there are many options px/cm etc..which one to choose
5.   How to decrease  the overall table size w.r.t to width and length
6.   How can I check Cognos report layout correctness without data?
Could you please someone help with especially with formatting landfills Thanks in advance

Unfortunately, a lot of your questions can be answered with "It just depends on what your output needs to be". There may be times when your table should be a fix width while there may be other times that it should not be. Personally, I try to avoid setting a fix width on a table unless I absolutely have to. What I might do instead is place that table within a block that is set to take up 50% or 75% width of a particular area and then allow the table to take up as much room within that block as it needs to.

I've had issues with colors being favorited as well so I cannot assist with that one.

Whether you choose px, cm, inches, %, etc. is entirely up to you and comes down to what results you need.

It would be very difficult to check Cognos Report Layout Correctness without data. You could at least import a spreadsheet data source or use Go Sales Data so you could work on your formatting. If you are in Cognos Analytics, you can also switch to Page Preview mode instead of Page Design mode which can be very helpful because you can make changes to your colors, widths, etc. and see the changes take place in real time without having to run the report each time.
