What's purpose of "Dashboards Reports" pane at bottom of Dashboard's Canvas?

At the very bottom of the Dashboard Canvas, there is an icon that looks like either a table or a calendar - it's a rectangle with a darkened title row and then two rows with three columns.  When you hover over this icon, the tooltip says "Open data tray".  When you click on that icon, a pane that is the width of the canvas opens but the pane is not very tall.  At the top left corner of this pane is text "Dashboards Reports".  It almost looks like a tab because it's got a narrow blue underline like you see in Report's Templates and Themes window.  This pane is empty; and, the "Dashboards Reports" label does not seem to respond to a click nor a double-click.

I did try to drag-and-drop a visualization into that pane but nothing seems to stick there.

I've searched though the IBM Cognos Analytics v11 Dashboards and Stories User Guide but could not find any material hits on any of the terms appearing in my first paragraph above.

Thank you for sharing some hints.

Thank you bus_pass_man for the reply.  This might be a technique I can research once I'm operating on v11.1.  Right now, I only have access to a v11.0.7 and a v11.0.11 environment.
