Hi,

What are the initial permissions for report studio user and query studio and what permissions for administrator cognos?

tks!

cognostechie

Admin has full access to everything.

The User permissions depends on how you set it up. It is possible to set it up in a way that the user can only run the report and not modify the report. Also possible to allow them to use the Studios to do the development work including modifying/creating   reports.

Ok!
But you would have this configuration administrator and user configuration / report developer to apply in cognos security?

No configuration needs to be applied to admin. There is a group called 'System Administrators' . Anybody who is a member of that group becomes the admin. Cognos does not check for any security for that member and hence he/she has full access.

For users - Yes, you have to configure the security. It can be configured in a variety of ways. You have to decide that depending on your needs. Security can be set for objects like folders, reports etc or for Groups/Roles or for individual members or for Capabilities like the Studios etc.

Go thru the Admin guide that comes with the software. It will be a PDF in <installation folder>/webcontent/documentation/en

Under Cognos namespace, you'll find the out of the box cognos groups and roles.
You can review them to learn the capabilities and permissions they have, thus you can make your users a member of those groups or roles.

Better yet, you can create your own roles where you have control on the capabilities and permissions to be assigned to better fit your user requirements.
