Team,

Can we create a Event Studio Report without a package.

If Yes, I wanted to Execute the Event Studio Report only when the records are fetched. If there are No Records then Event Studio report should not Trigger.

Thanks!
Kiran

Hi,

A package is the only mechanism by which an Event Studio agent has access to data. It won't have any access to records without a package. It's a bit like asking if you can drive a car without any wheels :)

Now that FM is deprecated, how would Event Studio work then since FM won't ship with Cognos v12?

Hi,

Framework Manager hasn't been deprecated - it is still current and ships with Cognos 12 versions. Map Manager was deprecated for the 12.0 release - is that what you're thinking of?

Thanks for the good news. I had a consultant working with IBM who said FM no longer supported. May be that was last year which caused a lot problems in trying to develop things for my firm in Cognos. Now I feel really good.

It's unfortunate that you were misinformed in this way - someone working closely with IBM should have known better. I wonder how many other people have been misled by this person?
If it helps, I worked for 11 years for a Cognos business partner, then I joined Cognos and was with them for the next 10 years until they were acquired by IBM, and I stayed with IBM for the next 11 years. I now work for an IBM distributor - approaching 6 years. If you add all those up, it comes to a lot of years of Cognos experience. Hoping that gives you confidence in what I posted vs what the consultant told you :-)

Of course, you are totally a very reliable source, and knowing what you said about your Cognos experience, I don't think I can find someone more experienced than you.

I have also read elsewhere (Stack Overflow) that IBM is intending to deprecate FM and Event Studio, so I took the consultant word as authentic.
Glad it is not.

Thanks for the kind words. I will be retiring in a couple of months - all good things must come to an end :-)

I moved your post about Active Report Controls to the Cognos Analytics > Reporting board in a new topic. To create a new topic, you can navigate to the board you want to post in (for example Reporting), then use the New Topic button above the list of posts in the board.

After you retire, is somebody else taking over?

I will still be around on the forum - posting on here is not part of my day job, nor something I do in any official capacity. I'm just here to try to help others by sharing knowledge, and I hope to continue that :-)

Cheers!
