Hi,

BO reports and Cognos Analytics reports are different technologies. There is no mechanism to take a BO report and convert it into a Cognos report, unfortunately. You can import a BO Universe into Framework Manager to give you a head start on your package/s, but even then you will have a huge task in taking the imported content and re-modelling it to deliver accurate, consistent results (there are some fundamental differences in the way the two products generate queries).

For the reports, the best you can do is to use the original reports as a guideline for how your CA reports should work. Having said that, often you'll find that existing reports are not really relevant in many cases because the business has evolved since they were written, so really you'll be going back to first principles and doing analysis with the business on what their current requirements are.

Cheers!

Hi,

I'm currently working on converting SAP OB reports to CA reports and would greatly appreciate your guidance on how to import a BO Universe into Framework Manager as a package to get started. I've searched extensively but haven't found relevant documentation. Could you provide some direction on how to begin this conversion? Thank you!

Hi,

I wrote that (what seems like) a lifetime ago! Things have moved on a lot with Cognos Analytics in the meantime. Since I wrote that, one of the various features removed from the product was the Meta Integration Model Bridge (MIMB). This was the component Framework Manager used to extract metadata from third-party sources, including SAP BO. If you are on any modern version of Cognos Analytics, you won't see an option to import third-party metadata. Interestingly, the 11.2.0 documentation still mentions importing third-party metadata sources, but when you click on the link, it takes you to a page that says "We're sorry! Content not found". It isn't there in the 11.1.0 documentation, so I suspect it's just a documentation error that it's there at all.
https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/cognos-analytics/11.2.0?topic=sources-importing-metadata
In summary, the feature is deprecated, sorry.

Cheers!
