Hi all,

During the last couple of days of 2007 I was bored so I started to do some programming and this is the result:
An online Cognos Connection Style Editor.

Update: A getting started tutorial video has been added

Let me know what you think of it and if you  have any troubles / suggestions.
The site is built for Internet Explorer so Firefox/Mozilla and all other browser users: Too bad....

If you use it to create a style for Cognos Connection, please post a screenshot... I'm interested in your results.

The following rules apply:
It's experimental.
It's not supported by Cognos.
It's to be used on your own risk. (So make a copy of your files)

You can find it @: http://www.jeroendegraaff.nl/CCStyler/Portal/

How to use:
- Click on the region of the screen that you want to change.
- Select the appropriate class in the top left selection box (the selected class will be highlighted).
- Make changes to the style by setting/changing values in the input controls.
- After making changes click on "Update Stylesheet" to see the changes.
- If you want to use the new style click on "Get Full Specification"
- Copy the contents of textarea and paste it in the file "Default.css" (replace original contents) in the following directory:
C:\Program Files\cognos\c8\webcontent\skins\corporate\portal and restart your browser (be sure to make a backup of the old file)

The entire customizer is based on the corporate skin, but you can also use it in another (custom) skin.

Introduction guide:

Click on the area with "Set Properties - Package A" (Make it visible by clicking on: General Properties under Show/Hide Preview)
Next, select the class "DialogHeader" in the top left selectin box;
Change the background color from #99aacc to #FF0066
Click "Update style"
Now the color of the properties header should be changed.

Good luck and I'm interested in your findings,

Nice one! You know, if you are this bored, my original offer from two years ago still stends ...

sir_jeroen

Tnx.. A compliment from you is one of the best things a cognoid can get....

MFGF

Now I'm intrigued.  Whatever could the offer have been?

Is there a marriage on the cards?   :o

Seriously, RA, I will take a look at your (undoubtedly brilliant) editor, then happily annoy all my friends and colleagues by wittering on about how good it is for the next 6 months...

MF.
Meep!

sir_jeroen

What could the offer be? That's for you to ask... For me to know :P

And btw: HAVEN'T YOU LOOKED AT IT YET???? Shame... Shame... Shame on you!!! :D

MFGF

I know!  I know!  I have no excuses.  I'm hanging my head in shame like a scolded schoolboy!  :D
Meep!

MFGF

I have a letter here from my mother that says "MF can't do sports at school try out the editor today as he has a nasty cold.  Please excuse him from cross-country running testing the nice editor. Sincerely, Mrs. F".

Will that do as a good enough excuse for today? ;D

MF.
Meep!

sir_jeroen

Ok.. you're excused for now... Next time I want a written report of your findings :D
