Upgrading 11.0.6 to 11.0.9 with Gateway and App Server

Hi everyone

I am just getting ready to upgrade our Cognos installation from 11.0.6 to 11.0.9 (and 11.0.9 FP1 apparently).

We have 3 Windows server environments:  DEV, UAT and PROD.  Each one has a gateway for single sign-on, and an app server (I run Framework Manager from my PC).  The app server runs all components but the gateway.

UAT was a new environment last summer and when 11.0.6 was installed, I mistakenly installed components that weren't necessary (there was an extra dispatcher I believe because the service was starting automatically).    This worked out okay, but now I want to correct the issue when upgrading to 11.0.9.

So my questions are:

1. How can I control which components are installed with an 'over the top' upgrade?  It looks like the only option is Cognos Analytics server.
2. How can I correct the mistake from an earlier install if I can't select components?

....Just looking for advice.  I will continue my research in the meantime before I begin.

Thanks

Penny

I see another post at this link:

Jeff H. stated that for the Gateway he had to do a bit of a hack and rename the existing Analytics folder so that the installer allows a custom install.

Is this really the only way?

Thanks
