Hello All,

im trying to setup the option to save to a specified file location. We are on cognos 10.1.1
I am using the follow URL's as a guide to do this.
http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21342666
http://public.dhe.ibm.com/software/dw/dm/cognos/infrastructure/cognos_specific/saving_report_output_to_the_server_file_system.pdf

ive replicated the steps per guidelines, but am unsuccessful in achieving the desired outcome. I am receiving 2 error messages

CNC-DS-0021 The alias 'test_output' is unsafe. The root directory cannot be found in the alias path.
RSV-DST-0014 Unable to deliver the output of the report. See the run history details for more information. Ensure that the required services are started. Ensure that the user account is configured to distribute the output in the requested manner.

any assistance would be appreciated.

Things to note:
- I have changed the "Save report outputs to a file system" to True in IBM Cognos Configuration
- Under Actions/Global Configuration/General I have set the 'Archive Location File System Root' to "file://C:". the test function on this works. this is the c drive on the cognos server
- In cognos administration/configuration/dispatchers and services/define file systems location I have created a New File System Location, with the specific location  "test_output"
- I have also made sure that "C:/test_output" folder exists

Not sure whatelse it could be?
Many thanks
Shaun

Hello Shaun,

Cognos Configuration seem fine as you mentioned. However do you see File location listed in to cognos portal > Define file location?
Also the folder name you put in define file system will create under the path which you have in cognos configuration.

If above everything seems correct than try restart cognos service with Administrator privileges and this will fix your issue.
