Hi All,

Within Cognos 10.# there is a Mobile Software piece available.
With C11 I can't find the same download for Cognos Analytics.

Is there something difference with C11 when configurate Mobile ?

Kind Regards.

Hi,

At one time, the Mobile server component was a separate install from the core BI server install, but this was changed a while ago - probably at the 10.2 release if I remember correctly. Mobile server is now baked into the standard install for Cognos Analytics, so there's no separate download for it.

If you're referring to the Mobile App for iOS / Android, you can still download these if you need them. For Cognos Analytics, they only really serve to render Active Reports on a mobile device - the browser of the device is used for "normal" reports.

Cheers!

MF.

This does not look like something IBM would approve of.

Hi MFGF,

Thanks for the info, that explain why I don't see the download with C11.

But did I missed something about the Cognos Mobile installation with C11?
I am looking for the interface when you are using C11 with a tablet / phone, not the mobile app.
So, when you have C11 installed you are able to login on your tablet / phone device and get a mobile interface.

Right now, when I logon to the BI Suite, I don't see the 'mobile-interface' but the default interface.

update: Yes I missed some configuration steps. Within Cognos Configuration, you can add a Mobile Store (or default into the content store).
After rebooting the server, there are mobile tables created.
So, I think I have done the right steps, but still no mobile interface, is that removed @C11 ?

Kind Regards

Hi,

The Cognos 10 regular UI was not designed to render in a mobile browser, so there was a separate, simplified web UI you could use on mobile devices. Cognos Analytics has a UI that is designed to render the same on both mobile browsers and regular browsers, so there's no separate mobile UI on CA. It's the same experience whether you're on a desktop or a tablet. You will notice some of the create options don't exist on mobile devices (eg you can author a new dashboard but not a new report) but the look and feel is otherwise exactly the same.

Cheers!

Agreed. It has been flagged with IBM's Security team.

Hi MF,

Thank your for the clarification, I thought this would be the case by using C11 and the new interface look.
But there where some people on my side telling me something else I wouldn't believe.

And, it's better for the development team of IBM to develop only for one 'platform' so it make sense to me.

Kind Regards
