Prompt Default Selections overridden by auto-built prompt selections

Scenario: Report contains multiple parameters, all of them have a corresponding prompt on the single prompt page of the report. Some of these prompts have values in the Default Selections property.
Some actions (i.e., validating a data item, selecting a default value for a Active Report variable, and surely more I cannot think of now) cause cognos to run automatically built prompts for parameters relevant to the current action. These auto-built prompts do not have my Default Selections, which I can almost live with. But the thing that really p's me off is that once you do populate values for these auto-built prompts, cognos remembers those as long as the browser session stays open, and it even preselects those instead of the Default Selections when I run the report proper.

Is there anything that can be done to avoid this? Some secret button to "flush" the remembered values and use my Default Selections again?

Someone else will correct me, but I think it caches the results in an attempt to make things quicker. You can try Ctrl + F5 to force refresh your page.

On Cognos 10 Report Studio there is an option to clear parameter values in the File menu. I think they would clear within a browser session by closing and re-opening the report. It is annoying that the generated prompts come up when validating or performing other functions even when prompt pages are defined so the clearing would still mean you'd need to select your desired defaults.
