UN-Check Read Permission/Un-Check ANY Permission

Hello Everyone,

Would anyone please be able to shed some light on some apparently missing Security Permission abilities in Cognos Analytics v11.0.6?

We are trying to make packages and folders invisible to certain groups of users, essentially 'hiding them' from view, but still allowing those same groups of users to successfully run reports written against the invisible package.

We understand packages can be hidden using the "Hide Object" setting.  Unfortunately, this does not completely meet our needs.

In Cognos v10.x and earlier, there was the ability to un-check any of the Permissions on a Cognos object package.  When accessing the Properties of a package, all of the "Read", "Write", "Execute", "Set Policy" and "Traverse" Permissions were able to be granted, denied, or simply left UN-checked.  With the "Read" permission un-checked on a package, the package disappears from sight but reports using the package can be successfully run.  (See screenshot "Uncheck.jpg")

The ability to un-check any of these permissions is what we need, specifically un-checking the "Read" permission to make the object invisible.
Cognos Analytics v.11.0.6 allows Permissions to be Granted, Denied, or Inherited, but not simply left un-checked.  We have tested packages with every possible combination of Permissions in Cognos Analytics v11.0.6 and we have installed the custom Java logic on the app server, but no luck.
Has anyone found the ability to un-check permissions?

Thank you, very much, for reading this and your insights and thoughts.
Best,
Liz

Hello Everyone,

If anyone stumbles across this, the ability to take away the "READ" permission and hide packages is returning in version 11.0.12 - Hurray!

Control visibility of Reports – changes to Permissions
With the release of R12, users no longer are required to have Read access to the report specification in order to run in the interactive viewer.
