Cognos Data Set Creation - Disable Auto Run?

I'm working in Cognos 11.0.5. I'm trying to build a data set from a framework package. Normally, this would be very easy to do. But, the data that I'm dealing with is massive. Millions of rows of raw data that I'm trying to filter down into a handful of datasets in order to optimize a dashboard's refresh time.

My main question. While building a data set, is it possible to turn OFF the auto-run portion of the editor? I would like to add the columns/filters I need to the data set before it attempts to run. But I have not been able to find a way to do this just yet. Any advice is appreciated.
