HI we use cognos 10.2.1 and excel 2013 for some report output.
our technical support department wants to upgrade to office 2016 will the output to office still work?
i know ibm does not support it yet.

The question isn't "Will Cognos export to Office 2016 format?", which it won't, it's "Will Office 2016 be backward compatible with Excel 2013?" Which is a resounding yes. Excel exports in 2013 will still be usable in Office 2016.

The part that doesn't currently work in Office 2016 is the "Cognos for MS Office" plugin for Word, Excel and PowerPoint. If you are just running Cognos reports and using the Excel rendering option, you're fine (as Paul says) - just don't expect to be able to pull content into Excel 2016 using the Cognos Office plugin :)

Cheers!

I had completely forgotten about the Office plugin! Not feeling embarrassed at all right now.

:) If I had to count all the times you posted things I'd forgotten about, it would be a long, long counting process :) Glad you're not feeling embarrassed, because you really shouldn't!!  :D

2016 is supported in 10.2.2 but only in fp6 + IF for office.
Find it a little odd that a new version was added in a fix pack :s
