Master Detail Realtionship-Parametrised query.

I am new to Cognos reports. In my report I have a master detail relationship. Query1 is the master and query 2, query 3, query 4 are details queries. I need to use a parametrised filter in the detail queries only and not in master query query1.

But somehow the report doesn't prompt for the parameter unless I have that parameter in the master query. Is there any way that I can use a particular parameter only in the detail queries and not in master queries, so that it will prompt for input when the report runs?
