Hi,

How is your data source connection defined on the Cognos server? Have you set up and tested both the native client and JDBC connections? The error you posted seems to be saying that the JDBC connection is not defined with a recognised hostname for the database.

Do you have a multi-server instance?

Hi all,
i find the issue but i dnt know how to solve.

actually we are using 3 servers i.e 2 are production and 1 is test server.i installed cognos in production server in high availability mode(in 1 sever installed all the components  and in 2 sever installed only dispatchers)  and in test server i installed all the components.i didnt gave any connection between the production server and test server.
i installed tm1 client  only in test server. but the request goes to production server dispatcher there it didnt find tm1 client so it is giving the error.if i stopped the two production servers then it is working fine other wise it is showing error.i dnt know why the request goes to production server dispatchers instead of test server dispatcher.
please advise me how to solve issue.

Hi,

You seem to be giving us conflicting information here. first you told us

Quote from: sekhar123 on 25 Nov 2015 04:04:28 AM
No, i didnt install any  multi server instance.

Now you are telling us

Quote from: sekhar123 on 05 Jan 2016 04:16:01 AM

How have we got from "No I didn't install any multi server instances" to "Actually we are using 3 servers"? Which is it? One or three?

The original message indicated you have a connection to Oracle which was producing an error. Now somehow it's a TM1 issue? What is your data source - Oracle or TM1? Please give us accurate information so we don't spend time trying to solve issues which don't exist.

sorry for the conflicting information.

both, before i used oracle as a data source, now i got the requirements to use tm1 cubes in cognos bi , for that iam getting above error.

actually iam using only test server not production servers thats why i told  'i didnt install any  multi server instance'.

Thanks,
sekhar

If this is an issue with TM1 on multiple servers then it isn't the same problem as the original issue with Oracle on a single server. Why have you mixed them up in the same thread like this? People could easily see the first post in your thread and spend time trying to troubleshoot the Oracle single-server connection issue, when in fact that isn't the issue you want resolving. It is grossly unfair to your fellow forum members to treat them with such disregard. If you have a different issue, then open it in a new thread, stating clearly what the issue is. If the Oracle single-server issue is no longer something you require help with, then post an update indicating this - so people don't spend their time trying to fix something you no longer care about.

It seems from your other recent post that you have some very strange configuration issues going on:

http://www.cognoise.com/index.php/topic,29769.0.html

This could be the root of both your problems here. If both your Production and Test instances are sharing the same content store, they are not separate instances. You can only have one active Content Manager within an instance, so you need to figure out which is the active one and which is standby. You also need to figure out where requests are being routed.

Your production servers are not the issue here. The issue is that you indicated you have configured your Test server to use the same content store as the Production servers. Please advise how your Test server is configured and also how your production servers are configured now Test is in the same instance.

Thank you MFGF,

now i found what is the exact issue,i did some wrong configuration, but small doubt i didnt gave any details about production server in test server cognos configuration then how the test server gateway route the request to production server dispatcher.correct me if my question is wrong because i am new to installation and configuration things.

Thanks,

The test server gateway will route the request to the first dispatcher in its list - so it will send the requests to whichever dispatcher you told it to (I'm guessing the Test dispatcher). However, this is one of three possible dispatchers that could handle the request within your instance - and it's likely the test dispatcher is load-balancing some requests to the other two dispatchers in the instance. As I mentioned in your other post, some training would help you in understanding how the architecture works.

Actually, you are not new. You were asking about configuration issues back in November 2014:

http://www.cognoise.com/index.php/topic,26498.msg84359.html#msg84359

At the beginning of April last year you were starting out on a complete new install:

http://www.cognoise.com/index.php/topic,27642.msg88602.html#msg88602

You have installed multi-server instances in both 10.2.1 http://www.cognoise.com/index.php/topic,28208.msg90542.html#msg90542 and then a month later in 10.2.2 http://www.cognoise.com/index.php/topic,28556.msg91837.html#msg91837 - both of these more than six months ago.

Why do you say you are new to installation and configuration? Your posts show that to be untrue. You are not new - you just don't appear to have taken any training, so you are trying to muddle through every time. Please (please please please please) take some training! It will make your life so much easier.
