There are some pretty standard calculations that I would like to include into a Query Subject, because that would be the most logical place.  It doesn't allow me to do that.  It seems like it wants me to create and brand new query subject and put my calculations in there.  The calculation would simply be an If Then Else Statement using nothing but columns from a dimension.  I would like that calculation to be in that same dimension (Query Subject) for use.  Is there a way I can do that?

Hi,

When you say "It doesn't allow me to do that", can you elaborate on what problem you are getting?  Is there an error?  What syntax are you using?

Also, what kind of query subject are you trying to add these to - data, model or stored procedure?

Regards,

MF.

There is no error.  I just simply want to create a calculation and put it in one of my dimensions (Query Subjects) to make it look as if it is part of the table.  If I right click a query subject and go to create, calculation is not there.  If I right click a namespace and go to create, calculation is then an option.

Well I just discovered that I can merge the calculation with a Query Subject into a new Query Subject.  Seems kind of round about way to do it, is there an easier way?

Hi,

If it's a data query subject, right-click, edit definition, go to the Calculations tab, and add a new calculation.

If it's a model query subject, right-click, edit definition, and add a new item as an expression using the Add link (near the bottom).

That did the job for me.  Thank you so much.

Hi..just so u know..
the calculation option you see when u right-click the namespace is for stand-alone calculations. These can be reused any number of times.
