Hi,
I am working on a Weekly Summarised Report data in Cognos 10.1.1 and I need to show Financial Weekend date along with financial Month comparing the past 2 years on a bar chart.

Out Financial Year is Nov 01 to Oct 31. and our database is SQl Server

i..e  On the X-Axis, I need to show Financial Weekend Date concatenated to Financial Month(08Nov 2015,15ov, 22 Nov 29 Nov --until  30 oct 2016) both for the current year and the Previous Financial year on the bar chart.

Can anyone advise me how to calculate Fiscal Weekend date for the current year and the Previous Year.
Thanks for your time

Regards
Geetha

So do you want to group all the transactions that happened between 2nd Nov and 8th Nov, and flag them as 8th Nov etc.?

GeethaKL

Hi,

Yes I want to add the transactions for that week and show it as weekend date..08 Nov 2015
Barchart --> X-Ais--? Fianncial Weekend Date || Finncial Month for the current Year and the previous year, Y-Axis ==no of Transactions and series ---> 2016 and 2015

Basically I am after the calculation or syntax for Financial WeekStart Date and Financial Week enddate?(Nov 01 2015   Oct 31 2016 ---> 2016 FY)
Cognos 10.1.1 and database is SQl Server.

Thanks in advance

There should be columns in the Date dimension for Financial Week End Date and Financial Month . You can create a column in the Report to concantenate the Month End Date to the Week End Date so that you get both in one column and then use that in the X axis.

Ex:

Date          Financial Week End Date      Financial Month             Create column in Report
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

11/1/2015        11/7/2015                       1/2015                       11/1/2015 -  1/2015
11/2/2015        11/14/2015                     1/2015                       11/14/2015 - 1/2015

That's exactly what I said - you should have the Financial Weekend Date and Financial Month in the Date Dimension. You will have to understand the business rule which determines the Financial Week and Month for any calendar date and according to that, you can populate fields in the Date dimension. You can also create columns in Framework Manager or Report Studio based on that to determine the Financial Week and Month but it is preferable to do that in the table itself. If you do not have access to the Date dimension then you can create those columns in FM or RS but you will have to understand the business rule to calculate that. We would not know that.
