Hi,
I tried to use Dimensional Functions in FM but i was unable, i was getting the error: The OLAP function **** is not supported.
I modeled the data by using ssas and when importing to FM i was just able to see the cube name.
so i was wondering when and how to use the Dimensional Functions inside the FM for calculations ?

Hi,

That's not the way things work with OLAP sources. Within SSAS you model *all* the metadata for the cube, and from Framework Manager you simply define a package for it. If you want to add calculations, the best place to do this is within SSAS.

Cheers!

Thanks a lot for your reply,
just to  clarfiy: in FM when creating measures we have a tab for functions and there is dimensionnal functions in the list like: currentMember.
so just i want to know when we can use them ?

If you're modeling DMR they might prove useful.

sorry still confused
But if i cant access  to ssas cubes from FM, how i can use them ?

You would use dimensional functions in FM with DMR, which would be included in whatever packages you want to create and used in the studios.

You would use dimensional functions in the studios with SSAS.

If you need to enhance your SSAS cube you would need to do that in your SSAS modeling tool.
