Can't change data format for the values displayed in column chart

Hello all!
I'm new in Cognos and have been working with reports these days. I have a problem while using charts and can't figure out how to solve it. For testing purposes, I created a very simple column chart. The data that comes from DB has 5 decimals. After choosing the "Show Values" option for the column label under Series it shows the values, but obviously it shows them with all the decimals. I want to display it without decimals at all and with a particular color. But so far I have been unable. I have tried:

- I have clicked on my column label inside Series and change Data Format in Properties to display 0 decimals.
- I tried right click on my column label inside Series and chose Style and changed it there too, nothing.
- For the color I can't even find a place where I can select a color for those numbers..

In a list it works just fine. Any help would be highly appreciated!!

Hi rsomoza!

In order to remove the decimal places on your measure, select the measure on your column chart, then change the data format to "number" and set the "No. of Decimal Places" to 0. And to change the font color of the values showed, unlock your report and choose the chart body of your chart. The properties for your chart will appear on the lower left corner. You can edit there the font color of your chart and also the background color if you want. See attached image for you to have an idea which object is the chart body. Hope it helps. :)

Cheers!

Thank you so much Tori.

I was able to manage the color with your steps. However, not sure why when unlocking the report and trying to change Data Format for my measure it only shows the Text's properties option. (note that when the report is locked, I can change Number's properties but the changes don't take effect when executing the report) - My measure is float in DB. So....  I can't change thousand separator neither.

For now, I workaround this using a data item where I used the round function....  :-\

Saludos!

I was able to do it Tori! I was selecting wrong measure while trying to change the format. Also the lock/unlock did the trick too for everything else!!

thanks a lot
