problem with data view that also causes reports to hang

Hi all,

I think I have a problem with one of my data views but I'm not sure how to proceed.     When I publish a fresh package, and use this particular view to try to create a new report in either Workspace Adv or Query Studio - those will hang and never import the data.    For instance, in Query Studio I have waited 5 minutes for it to finish and it never does.  So when I cancel it, it returns to the QS studio and says "Data is turned off"

I've run the Model Advisor and Verified relationships of that data view object in Framework Manager and it returns no errors or warnings.     What could be causing it to hang on the report side?

It might simply be that the view is badly coded and fires off "the query from hell" whenever it is called? What do you see if you select an item from the view in FM and use the Test option? Do you see data returned in FM? If this works, what happens if you select all the items and test? If this still works, what happens if you enable the Auto Sum checkbox?

Have you verified that the view actually works outside of Cognos?

I can select and test each field in the view and each one runs just fine without AutoSum but it will hang when I test *with* AutoSum.

I do notice some strange behavior though.  When I test each item in the view individually, the test returns a column that has all the same data entries in it.  But when I select the entire view and test it, I see unique data like I would expect to.     I went through and checked all the attributes of each item, and none are set to Fact/ Sum.  They're all set to either Identifier/Count or Attribute/Count
