Hi,

We have Cognos 10.2.2 installed on Linux having Derby as Content Manager database.Today server crashed and when we were trying to start the Cognos service...Content Manager failed. Yesterday we took the backup of Content Store and Derby folder present under configuration folder. Now my question is if we install a fresh setup n after installation, copy n replace these 2 folders and again restart the services, will this be like a restoration of our Cognos environment ?...

Any suggestions/pointers is appreciated.

The important question here is why is content manager failing to start? Is it because your content store database isn't started? Some other reason? What do you see reported in cogserver.log?

Hi

Derby is the database that comes with Cognos as it's Content store database. It is supposed to start when you start the Cognos service. If your server crashed then it is possible that Cognos and Derby did not shut down properly. Try to start the service from within Cognos Configuration.

Hi,

The IBM Cognos Content database starts properly. However when I m trying to start the Local configuration/Environment, getting the following error at Launching the JVM using maximum in MB step:
[Launching a JVM using 'Maximum memory in MB']
17:50:34, 'com.cognos.pogo.bibus.SOAPMessageOutputter', 'pogo', 'Failure'.
DPR-DPR-1035 Dispatcher detected an error.
CAM-CRP-1093 Unable to read the contents of the keystore '/opt/ibm/cognos/c10_64/configuration/csk/jCSKKeystore'. Reason: java.security.UnrecoverableKeyException: com.ibm.crypto.provider.AESSecretKey
.
.
.
Now we have tried deleting the csk, certs n cogconfig.xml folders/files and again started the configuration. The error still remains the same.
If u guys need any further details, let me know as Infra team will be restoring the sever image soon and I have no option to try copy and replace the content store and derby folders to new image n hoping to start the service n restore the environment.

Have you checked the JAVA_HOME environment variable is still pointing to the correct version of java for your Cognos instance?
