Reports timing out during peak time

Hi,

first of all I want to thank you for helping me in advance.

We have been having this problem for a couple of months that every other day, during peak hours when user are trying to access a report, the report does time out and does not load. There is no error message or anything that I can find in the cognos logs on linux. The report would work before but it seems like when there are peak hours and users are trying to get to it, it just times out.

"504 Gateway Time-Out" - The gateway did not receive a timely response from the upstream server or application"

So far we have tried an increased the Java heap size to 4096/8192.

In order to fix the issue we  need to restart cognos in linux and it works fine again, which is very tedious.

We are currently running cognos 10.1.1 in redhat and web server apache 2.2.15

Please let me know if you need any other information or if you have seen this issue.

have you set the time of the your peak hour in the dispatcher ?

please refer below link to set the start of your peak hour.

Thank you very much, we had the peak time defined during morning hours and this issue occurs during the night time, so I will definitely look into that.

I guess I will change peak time next time the error occurs and will let you know.
