Hi All,

I'm installing cognos 8.2 on a new machine. The configuration is windows xp pro and IIS 5.1.
I installed the oracle server on the same machine. Installed cognos 8.2 and then tested with http://localhost/cognos8. It was working fine. after that i installed framework manager and restarted the machine and then opened http://localhost/cognos8. It's giving me HTTP 404 page not found error. I couldn't understand what the problem was . i thought it might be the problem with CGI. but i couldnt find any option where to enable it in IIS 5.1 with XP. and my doubt is it was working earlier before i restarted the machine.
Added to that i tested the framework manager before the restart.
it's giving me an error when creating a data source saying that

QE-DEF-0285 Logon failure. QE-DEF-0325 The cause of the logon failure is: QE-DEF-0068 Unable to connect to at least one database during a multi-database attach to 1 database(s)

i tried all the options in cognos support. But none of them are working.
I actually installed and conofugred cognos a lot of times before. This is the first time i'm getting this kind of error.
can some one please tell me , if i'm missing some thing.
i'll also try to upgrade to IIS 6 today.
i think my http://localhost/cognos8 may work after the upgrade. But i'm much concerned abt the error in FM.
i know that it is because i'm using oracle server on the same mahine...
Please help me in this.
Thanks in Advance

No  i installed it in a different directory with a different name .
Strange thing is my cogserver.log isn't showing any errors for the page not found.
It's only showing the error for FM.

If I may ... was there another web server present? And how does one get IIS6 for XP? Is there a download available?

Cheers.

Oracle 9.2 server installs Apache for its management functions and grabs port 80.

I knew there was a reason for my hate towards wizards and defaults. I want full control!  ;D
