Hi All,

I'm using Cognos in Concur.
I was trying to create a prompt for date range and used 'Generated Prompt' to set it up. Unfortunately, I need a prompt for "as of date" instead. I can't seem to get rid of the generated prompt.

Hello naqsa,
If you initially created a generated prompt attached to the parameter ?Parameter1? for instance, on your prompt page or the report page, wherever you placed this prompt UI, you should see this prompt UI with ?Parameter1? being displayed in report studio. Simply, select it and delete it. Next, check if you have added ?Parameter1? in your queries somewhere. Delete that as well. Second step is not necessary, you can override the prompt UI behavior by using any other form of the date prompt and attaching ?Parameter1? to it.

Hi Cognos810,

Thanks for responding. When I created the generated prompt I clicked the Toolbox (while on the report page), double clicked Generated Prompt from the list on the left and created a new parameter. I deleted it from the report page (?paramater?)once I realized that I no longer need it but it continues to pop-up when I run the report. I didn't add it to the query.
I tested this with a new prompt parameter and same thing....it's been deleted from the report page (click X to delete) but shows up when I run the report.  So frustrating!

Please help!

Try this...
In report studio, go to Tools > Copy Report to Clipboard.
Then, open notepad, and do a CTRL-V or Edit > Paste.
Do a CTRL-F to find the name of your parameter, example ?Parameter1?.

See if you get a hit. If you do, you have that parameter somewhere on the report.

If you don't then make sure that the parameter is not being forced through FM. You can test this by creating a new report and try to get the same data that you are trying to pull in the original report.

Also, if possible save the above notepad file and upload it here.

Hi Cognos810,
I'm not seeing anything related to 'report date range' in the txt file.

Hi,

When you add a prompt from the toolbox like this, it does two things:

1. It adds the prompt object to the page where you drop it
2. It defines a detail filter in the query of your report object (list/crosstab/chart etc) that references the parameter the prompt uses.

If you then delete the prompt, but leave the filter in place in the query, the parameter is unfulfilled when the report runs, so a prompt gets generated to allow you to specify what it should be. I am pretty sure this is what you are seeing. If so, all you need to do is to go to the query of your report object and delete the detail filter that references the parameter.

What MFGF said.

Although, it's possible the prompt/parameter reference is hidden in a filter, data item, conditional format, layout calculation and possibly one or two other places.
But, based on your story, it's probably in a filter.

Hello naqsa,
In your attached report XML, I do see the parameter in the query named "Query1". Check the detail filter section of that query, the expression as per your attached XML is:
[Expense].[Report Dates and Statuses].[Report Date] in_range ?Report Date Range?
Please remove that parameter OR create your own UI that you want to be shown and associate with the parameter, ?Report Date Range?
