I have what I hope is a very basic requirement...

I want to send a user a URL in an e-mail which simply launches the IBM Cognos Mobile app on the device (iPad) and shows the "My Reports" page.

Anyone know what this url should be?

assume our Cognos url is: cognos.reports.com/ibmcognos

SynexusStuart

Does anyone have any information on this?

I do not know, but would be interested in the answer.

You might want to open a support ticket and ask.

Yes, of course. I assumed you are on a support contract. You do not have to have something broken to use support; you can just ask a question like this one.

ok, we are with a support provider but I usually find what I need online for this type of thing - Inertia is my overriding feeling when using IBM support. I will send it to them for perusal.

Thanks.

If anyone else can think of this please post!

Hi Stuart,

I didn't think the Cognos app supported a URL scheme, but I found the following on DeveloperWorks, though - don't know if it's of any use?

Looks like the format is cmuri://http://<servername>/ibmcognos.....

Cheers!

Thanks MF, yes I found this.

The problem with this now is that I can send this cmuri://xxx but it points to a content store item of the report.

Maybe I should put down my basic requirement and see if there is a better solution...

My customers are executive level and are used to receiving reports directly in their e-mail. They are keen on mobile active report but want to be notified when the latest report version is available. The 2 notification methods we have available are iOS (for apple users) or e-mail.

If we look at e-mail notification, they want to click something in the e-mail which launches the report in the mobile app. If i use the cmuri it open the last downloaded version but does not automatically download the latest version to the device. If I could get the uri to land on the "My Reports" page it would be easy for them to swipe down and update all.

Thoughts?

Ah - I see. I don't think there is anything more advanced than opening the report URL the cmuri://xxx points to. A fully-fledged URL scheme would usually allow various app control selections to be included and passed in the URL to launch an app and control where you land in it, but I don't think the Cognos app has this implemented.

By all means log it as a support question, but in all honesty I suspect the answer will come back that it's an enhancement request.

Cheers!

Thanks, I figured this was the case.
