Well I think 'search using the term determinant' is a fairly good answer; certainly succinct.

So when you searched this forum and when you googled using terms such as double counting and framework manager or double counting and determinants or determinants and framework manager did the results not answer your question?

The concept of double counting is an industry-wide thing, not one of those Cognos gnostic cult type things.

What issue are you trying to solve? If you model incorrectly you will not generate correct SQL and may find that some fact figures are inflated. This may mean the figures are duplicated (double counted) but in really could be any multiple (x3 or more) depending on what was done wrong.

Barrysaab gave you the right advice in terms of what to search for to better understand the concepts. If you look in the FM user guide for the section about multi-grain multi-fact queries you will find more detailed information along with specific examples.

Bus_pass_man has now made me worry that perhaps I am unknowingly part of a Cognos gnostic cult ;)
