Hello to all,

While reading this ibm link page:
http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21626203

I'm not quite sure how to allow a specific user only to have the capability "Workspace" upgraded to the "Workspace Advanced" capability.

We are using cognos 10.1.1

Thanks for any valuable feed-back!

Hi,

It's not clear what you are asking here. Are you asking how to make sure a user has access to Cognos Workspace but not Cognos Workspace Advanced? Are you asking how to change capabilities to allow a user who already has Cognos Workspace to also have Cognos Workspace Advanced? Something else? Can you explain?

Ok - in that case you will need to do the following:

1. Launch the Admin console, go to the Security tab, select Capabilities, find the Report Studio capability and go into its properties, go to the Permissions tab, and for the user/group/role requiring access to CWA, add them to the list and grant Traverse and Execute privileges.
2. Still on the Security tab, go to User Interface Profiles, and in the properties of the Professional UIP, make sure the user/group/role has no permissions. In the properties of the Express UIP, make sure the user/group/role has Traverse and Execute privileges granted.

Cheers!

Thank you !

By the way for users not even having Business Insight presently (as it is called in our 10.1.1 cognos version versus Workspace in 10.2.2) and that will want to have the Business Insight (not the advanced) CAPABILITY, how do i do so ?

You grant the user/group/role Traverse and Execute privileges to the Executive Dashboard capability.

Make sure you are not breaching your license agreement in doing this. Anyone who did not have access to Business Insight/Cognos Workspace previously was most likely a Consumer license, and these do not automatically transition to the new license structure - it's extra cost to upgrade them to Analytics User licenses.
