Issue in PROD ENV only

I am facing an issue with one of my report,in DEV&QA when i schedule the report to email i am getting in less than 4 minutes,but in PROD it is time out,i ran the same query in PROD DB and i am getting the result in 3 minutes..

Is issue with the Report?or is anything?,the strange thing is when i directly ran the report in PROD its giving me in 2 minutes and i tried to export it into excel its keep on running and gives me the timeout error

Is there a significant difference in data volumes between your DEV, QA, and PROD environments? What is the expected result set size for your prod report? Is there a significant amount of local processing required that is perhaps faster with a small dev data set but too slow against full volumes?

When you say you can run in prod and get results in 2 minutes are you referring to HTML format where it takes that time just to start providing output rather than rendering the entire result set?

You didn't mention what type of source you are dealing with. Might give additional clues if you provide that information.

There is no different in data volumes in all the environments..we have only 40000 records for the given input parameters

Yes in HTML format i ran the report in PROD and getting the output in 2 minutes..but same i exported to excel getting the time out error in PROD

env:cognos 10.1,db2 db

If data is identical in volume and the same operation works on one environment and not on the other, first thing I'd do (Especially given that your query takes all of 3 minutes to return!) is have a DBA look into the indexing of the PROD tables.

I ran the same Query in 3 Databases(DEV,QA&PROD) and rans in 3 minutes,but the report in PROD takes the timeout error
