Hi,

I have a line chart with Fact and Products are in Series and MonthYear in X Axis.
I have a Data List Box with Multi Select Option.

The Line Chart Series are behaving like a single Select even when multiple Products are Selected in the Data list box.
How to Show multiple Products in Series based on multiple Sections of Data list box?

I'm guessing you missed out some crucial pieces of information - that your chart is in a data deck, and linked via master-detail to the data deck, and your control is selecting the data deck? Is that your situation? If so, you are seeing the exact behaviour I'd expect. Imagine a data deck as being like a deck of cards. At any one moment you can only see the card that is at the top of the deck. If your control selects a different card, you will see this card. If your control tries to select two cards, you will see the first of them. The key point here is that you can't filter chart objects in Active Reports. There is no embedded chart engine in the MHT to re-render charts interactively. The charts you see are pre-rendered as the MHT is created, and are stored as static png images in the MHT. The controls allow you to navigate from one card of a deck to another to show different pre-rendered charts on each card, but you can only show one card of a deck at any one moment in time.

If you have Cognos 10.2.1 or later, you do have the option of using visualizations instead of charts in your active report. Unlike charts, these are rendered interactively within the MHT (the visualization engine is held within the rendered MHT to allow re-rendering of visualizations on-the-fly). This means you can filter the chart series based on multi-select controls, and since you are filtering it would allow you to show any combinations selected.

Hi MF,

As you rightly mentioned I am using Chart with in Data Deck.
I am using Cognos 10.2.1 Version.

Please Correct me, The only draw back I See using Visualizations for Chart in Cognos10.2.1 is I can't manually Select the Standard Colors.I have to go with the Colors Cognos Provided Colors.

Is this True?

Please let me know.

Thanks
Srini.

Yes... and no :) You're correct that most visualizations have a fixed palette which is baked in to the visualization code. In 10.2.2 we are starting to see a few visualizations where the palette can be changed via properties in Report Studio - but the visualization has to be specifically coded to allow this.

In the past, where I have had visualizations with fixed palettes, I have opened them in Vizcustomizer (a nice little utility you can download for free from Analyticszone) and looked through viz the code to find the palette section.

It's an easy job to replace the colours with ones you need. then save the viz under a new name and import it.

Cheers!

On the Analyticszone home page, there is a blue box in the top right corner that says "Downloads and Trials". Hover over this and a menu appears. Select "Visualizations" from the menu.

This will take you to https://www.analyticszone.com/homepage/web/displayMarketplacePage.action#search/-/:Visualization

On the left is a list of categories - one says "Utility". When you click on it, you see a tile labeled "Visualization Customizer". Click on the tile, and it takes you to:

https://www.analyticszone.com/homepage/web/displayMarketplacePage.action#catalog/assets_viz_viscustomizer

There are currently three versions you can download - 10.2.2 x64, 10.2.2 x86 and 10.2.1.1 x86. You're going to need the last one.

You simply open the vizbundle you want to edit using File>Open. If you don't currently have any vizbunbdles, you can download them from Analyticszone.

Cheers!
