Report studio has an option of Active reports , which can be exported to MHTML formats for offline reporting. But my user wants to have that option (MHTML) within standard reports. i cannot convert this to active report by using " convert to active reports" property . because i will loose some standard report studio feature. I am not sure why ibm did not include this within standard report export format ( Excl , xml, csv, mhtml ..) ... As far as i know , i dont see any option to expport standard report to MHTML format to work offline . Expert thoughts please.. Thanks

I will venture a guess that the features you have in RS but not an Active Report might not be supported in MHT. There are Active Report features you do not get in 'standard' reports either, so it cuts both ways.  8)

Sometimes what a user wants is just not available and they will have to live with it.

Hi,

Active Reports are *only* rendered as MHT - this is the technology that provides the framework to support the embedded interactivity. If your users want reports that can be consumed offline but not rendered as MHT, you can provide them with pre-rendered static HTML, PDF, Excel or CSV outputs.

What is it specifically about a "Standard" report your users need? Why isn't MHT an acceptable delivery mechanism for them? What features are you worried about losing in your reports by converting them to Active reports?

Users refer Standard reports mean except active reports in report studio. They are in the process of MIgrating Microstrategy to cognos , so they want to see all export format in single view . ex: Excel, MHT, CSV ... Because some users wanted to view offline and some wants to connect with excel. If i choose Active reports, i cant export to excel.

Also we can see all  the toolbox  objects are not exist when i choose active reports. They are expecting, funtionality may change after some time, so they want to have all in once.

Why do users need Excel? What does connecting with Excel provide that Active Reports don't? An Active Report requires only a browser to be consumed, whereas the solution you describe requires a version of Excel to be installed on the user's machine before they can consume the content. it sounds like a more expensive and difficult environment to maintain than the Cognos solution.

What do you mean by "we can see all  the toolbox  objects are not exist when i choose active reports"?

1) One set of users are migrating from C10.1 to c10.2.2. They had not built the report in active reports early. So they are expectng to just enable MHTML so that they can have offline. It is not just by convert active report, they are convenient with excel as well. So they need both option.

2)  I will take this word back. I thought when i choose active reports , i will not have controls which are exist when i choose List or crosstab.

I guess they need to have the options explained to them so they can make an informed choice about what they require. Users sometimes make assumptions about the way things work based on what they imagine rather than based on how a product really functions. It can be difficult to reset their expectations in those situations, but sadly there's no way around having to do it.

Good luck!!
