Hi,

If I'm understanding correctly, you are saying you have only one gauge chart available to you when building reports? It sounds to me like you are still using the old Legacy charting engine, if so.

IBM introduced a new charting engine in Cognos 10 - AVS charts - which you can enable if you wish. In 10.1 the Legacy charting engine is enabled by default (for compatibility with Cognos 8 ) and it wasn't until 10.2 that the AVS engine was enabled by default.

To enable AVS charts, launch Report Studio, go to Tools > Options (on the menubar) and click on the Advanced tab. Uncheck the "Use legacy chart authoring" option, click "OK", then close and re-open Report Studio.

You should now see a completely different selection of charts available when building a chart report - with multiple options for gauges.

Cheers!

Hi there

This is a really good presentation by IronSide Group - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=75QrPFT6pT8
It highlights the benefits of RAVE charting in Cognos.

Cheers

Yep - it's a good video! Bartburg is using 10.1.1 though, so no access to RAVE for him :)
