Hi Guru's..,

I have an Issue here... I have created a report with 4 Country's.. when i ran the report and took the output in Excel ...

I want to see the data in sheet wise...  even sheet name also need to change..

for example :

Country Name :

1.India
2. US
3.Uk
4. France
5.Italy

Now i am running the report in Excel formate ... in the output... instead of Page1--India needs to dispaly, and India related data needs to display. like for all other Country's..

Is it possible... ? If it is possible how ?

Please help me.

Thanks in Advance...!

If the names will always be the same for each page you can set the name of the page in Cognos and this will be picked up in the excel export.

view attached screenshot for an example

edit: I've also just found another mentioned way of doing this, visit the below URL for infromation

For what it's worth, control over Excel sheet names is a 10.2.2 enhancement. Many would say overdue enhancement.

kc9400's tip is about the best you can do prior to 10.2.2. You could hack something together with Excel macros or custom code afterwards, but that can get messy. There is nothing native to Cognos as far as I know.

Oh 10.2.2 has something, nice to know :)

Hmmmm the other option would be creating a page for every country available and then having render variables on each page relating to each individual country. But that could get a bit messy and more work than it's worth.

A couple of us are just trying to figure out exactly what 10.2.2 does and doesn't allow in this area. Its not clear from the materials I have, as two different things are stated. I think a little experimentation is in order...

I do not yet have 10.2.2 installed locally, but I have attached this quick little demo report I created on analyticszone.com: http://cognos10.analyticszone.com/ibmcognos

Open it in Excel format. In a nutshell, the report page names become the sheet names.

Just to be clear, did you use a page set and the sheet names in Excel were driven by the data values used in the page set? I'm curious... :)

Oh dear, I see what you are getting at... I just statically named the pages. Not at all what was asked for. Silly me.

As I understand it, you do have to use a PageSet to get a data-driven sheet name. If it was not the end of the day before a US holiday (Thanksgiving), I might try to do something with that, but I need to get home. That's my excuse and I am sticking to it.  ;)

Well, I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving Bob - and I hope you are not so full of turkey that you can walk! :)

I have seen two conflicting statements - both from IBM - on whether this is possible in 10.2.2, so when I get time I will check. My only reservation in trying this on the AnalyticsZone cloud instance is that (I think) this is a pre-release beta build of the platform, so it's possible something that doesn't work on there might do in the released product, and vice versa. I need to get the GA version installed then have a little play to see what's what...

I can still walk. And I am thankful for all the smart people here like MFGF.  ;D

Likewise I do not have GA to play with yet, so no way to try it out. Let us know what you find out actually works when you get a chance to give it a whirl.
