There is a ton of things to consider in a S7 to C8 migration.  You should really read the following User Guide:  PLANNING A MIGRATION FROM SERIES 7 TO COGNOS 8 BI, you can find it on the Cognos support site with a knowledgebase search.  Start to living and breathing the Cognos Knowledgebase, you will find many answers there (http://support.cognos.com).
No, a proof is a proof. What kind of a proof? It's a proof. A proof is a proof, and when you have a good proof, it's because it's proven.

Hi If you are a cogons customer you can download a tool. This is called impcat2xml. For the reports you use migratetoc8

Its run on command line and converts the catalogues to xml files..These xml files are then imported into Framework manager.

You have to then change the data item values (e.g Attribute to Identifer etc) as migrating seems to sum up some values.

Most reports migrated I have rebuilt from scratch as the migratetoc8 tool just gives you and xml file...You can then open report studio from notepad .This gives you the structure .Grouping, sorting and the filters but it doesnt pull through the data item mappings on the filters or the report

I have done 2 migrations now..No real problems.Just make sure you use the latest migration tool.
