Hi,

Can we override the "from (sender)" of email sent by Cognos? How to do that?

thanks

Are you talking on a user by user basis? or the overall sender.

The overall sender is defined in Cognos Configuration under the Notification section.  This is the account that will be used to log into your email server and send mail as.

I want to do it on a user by user basis. By default, the sender is me. I want to change it to another From address.

Thanks

You can use SMTP to easily change the from address.

The from address can be anything and need not even be functional.

If you want the sender to change by report or by job, you will need to use the SDK I believe.  You will need to obtain the report output from the SDK and then fire up a mail procedure that automatically changes the from address per output or email you are trying to send.  In java, i use JavaMail to build my API for sending email based on certain scenarios, but will admit I have not tied it in with the SDK yet.  If you just need one global change to make your sender something like cognos@yourcompany.com, then just change the notification section of Cognos Configuration.

You can overwrite your email with others email in your access manager/ldap. Or login with other user and make him owner .
