Global select value filter in Workspace pass through to RS?

I have a dashboard setup that displays Budget Revenue and Budget Expense Charts with the ability to drill through to a detail report designed in RS.  On the dashboard I am using a select value filter that allows users to select the department and then the charts display the information for that department.  However, when they click on one of the bars in the chart and drill through to the detail report they have to select the department again.  I cannot seem to find a way for the select filter on the dashboard to "talk to" the final report.  Is there a way to set this up?
