excel sheet as a datasource to FM

Hi,

I am trying to connect to a excel sheet as a datasource in the FM. My server (cognos) is in an offshore location and FM is on my machine. I followed the method here https://jazz.net/library/article/671. The excelsheet shows up in the FM. But whenever I 'test ' the data in any column, I get the following error message

RQP-DEF-0177 An error occurred while performing operation 'sqlPrepareWithOptions' status='-69'.
UDA-SQL-0043 The underlying database detected an error during processing the SQL request.

Make sure the object exists and that you spell its name and the path name correctly. What could be causing this?
