Hi ALL,
If I have 5 levels in my hierarchy , is there a way to show only the level 2 and level 3  in  my tree prompt.

Will I also be able to add a filter condition on level 2 to show only few items.

I appreciate your help.

Thanks,
Nithya

Hi Nithya,

When you don't get a response it is most likely because the members who voluntarily participate on this forum either don't have an answer for you or they don't have time to investigate. Sending me (or anyone) a PM to nudge for a response is considered pushy. The Muppet explained that to you here:

I would suggest you look at the descendants function wrapped within a filter function. This would let you include only the desired level 2 members in your tree prompt. I don't know of a way to limit the tree prompt to stop at a particular level.

I'm not going to attempt to provide answers again in response to a PM. It is better to stick with the forum boards. Personally I would suggest that a better method of getting a response is to post back with information on things you have investigated or attempted rather than simply bumping up your post by asking for help without adding any new input or exhibiting any effort on your part to find a solution.

I'm attaching a useful reference on dimensional functions. It should help you get some ideas on available functions, their syntax, and examples on how to use them.

Hi Lynn,

Its not that I am not investigating.
I used descendants( All Members, Level3) which gives me the value from level 3 but i am not able to stop it at the same level, it goes until the last level.

As you suggested I should have posted my findings which I am not doing, I will post them hereafter.

And there are no solutions in the net for some questions and its really hard to find them. Only with those who have a good experience could let us know if its feasible or not for these kind of issues..

I am sorry for not following the forum etiquette and will follow your suggestions.

Thanks,
Nithya

This is the only time where I'd say a detail filter can be used in an OLAP environment.

roleValue('_levelNumber',[Data item]) will return the level number of the members. You can create a filter on that roleValue('_levelNumber',[Data item])<4 Now all members in level 3 will return no children when you attempt to expand them. This is because the filter expression is still being used in the query.

Hi Nithya,

I gave you a friendly warning about this behaviour the last time you did it. you replied:

QuoteOkay . I dint mean to send three posts, but  wanted to explain the issue in clear. I will wait until you guys respond. You guys are my source  of help

I took this as confirmation you had understood it was inappropriate and would refrain from this in future. It looks like I was mistaken.

This is your second warning. It deeply disappoints me when members abuse the good nature of others by trying to push them into answering. Do not do it again.

MF.
