Try using google to search for your questions. You can often find a particular section of the documentation that is relevant without wading through the entire PDF. There is also a search function within Adobe that can help you find the topic you are interested in.

It think the snippets below, which are part of chapter 5 in the PDF, explains the two types quite well. I would suggest you invest in professional training as well.

Inam,

I remember you trying to dictate in a previous post what form of answer you would accept - something along the lines of "Don't refer me again to anywhere else". As I recall, a member sent you links to the relevant documentation pages (which contained the exact answers you were seeking) and you reacted badly and unkindly, posting a very rude message to that helpful Cognoise member and resulting in you receiving a warning from one of the site administrators. I had hoped you had learned some valuable lessons from that - namely that it is unacceptable to behave rudely and it is inappropriate to try to dictate to those trying to help you what form of answer is acceptable to you. And yet, here you are doing the same thing again. It is unacceptable behaviour and it must stop immediately. I hope I am making myself clear.

If you have ever encountered the phrase "skating on thin ice", then you will understand your situation on this forum at this point. If not, you should look up what the phrase means and contemplate your behaviour moving forwards.

I think the reaason you get referred to the documentation so frequently is because the questions you ask are generally quite basic and answered concisely and accurately in the documentation. Sometimes posters wonder why you haven't done your own search to find the answers, and they are kind enough to do the search for you and point you to the exact place in the documentation your answer lies. This thread is a perfect example. If you go to google and enter "cognos model query subject" as a search term, this link is right there at the top of the page. it answers your question exactly. It probably took you longer to post this new thread on Cognoise than it would have taken you to do the search yourself. Then you had to wait for someone to answer you. Why? It takes very little effort to search and to read up on a topic like this.

So - if your answer lies in the documentation, you will likely get pointed to that answer if you post a question such as this. You do not have the right to dictate to other forum members that they should spend their own time explaining something that is clearly explained in the docs. It is rude and it will not be tolerated on the Cognoise forum.
