Update a D-List in Analyst from two Ascii Files

Hi,

I was wondering if this can be done.

I have two (or more) d-lists that are in separate libraries.  (For example:  Part Number D-list in Library A and Part Number D-list in Library B and Comprehensive Part Number D-list in Library C).

Library A is for one country (Singapore) and Library B is for (United States) and Library C is a common library.  The reason the same D-list is in different libraries is because Singapore doesn't need all the United States part numbers and vice versa.  (mostly due to size of cubes, etc.)

However, the Comprehensive D-list in Library C needs to have ALL part numbers.  Therefore, we have folks in Singapore updating their Part Number D-list in Library A and other folks in the United States updating their Part Number D-List in Library B.

We currently have an Import link from an Ascii File that is updating the Part Numbers from Library B (United States) to our Comprehensive D-List in Library C, but we also need to have it update from the Part Number list in Library A.  However, there is not an option for TWO import links.  What we are looking for is to be able to go to D-list from the menu bar and click on "Update" and have it update from both Part Numbers lists in libraries A & B so our Comprehensive D-list in Library C had all part numbers.

Can this somehow be done in Analyst?

Thanks!

1) Use a script to combine 2 ascii files )
2) Use a D-Cube as a source for Dlist Import.
You can create a cube, gathering both ascii files into single slice (don't see the ascii, so it's hard to propose a structure) and upload dlist from there.

Alternatively you could use the Analyst macro DlistItemCopyFromDlist to do this - one step to copy from US list to common, and another step to copy Singapore list to common. This should work.

Hello,

I have the same issue. I have a geographical structure where the details come from different sources then the global structure. I have chosen to consolidate everything before it enters planning in a seperate database table. I load that into a D-Cube and use that D-Cube to generate all the different D-Lists I need. So if you have different sources entering planning, I would use a D-Cube as well, just as already suggested above.
