Separating out a Query Subject

Hi everyone,

My FM is built off one of my planning models that has a merged dimension which makes reporting difficult in Report Studio.

We merged the Months dimension with Hours and Dollars to increase the speed of the model significantly, but now filtering the data in a report for the end user is not very sufficient.

Here is what the dimension currently looks like vs what I would like the proposed to look like:
Current: Jan Hours/Jan Dollars/Jan Rates/Feb Hours/Feb Dollars/Feb Rates/etc.
Proposed: Months as a separate dimension & Hours/Dollars/Rates in a separate dimension

Ultimately I want to be able to select a month in a filter without having the values (Hours/Dollars/Rates) attached to it and also be able to filter on the values without being merged with the month.

If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance!

Keep the current dimension
Create another dimension just for  prompt/filtering purposes

To give it a quick test maybe try something like this...
In report studio for the prompt page, create a query with 2 data items
The first data item (for display) uses a substring to just get the month
The second data item is what the current dimension looks like.  This will be the use value for the parameter

For the query used to build your lists/charts you should be able to use the parameter to filter
